North Salem welcomes Aramark as its “Food Service” provider.  Karen Seikovsky, the Food Service Director, is responsible for daily operations.  In addition, Karen is supported by Deirdre McManus, RD, CDN, General Manager of Food/Nutrition Services.

Students will notice a difference in meal composition from last year.  This is due to the USDA making the first major changes in school meals in 15 years to ensure a healthier generation of children. The Health, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 (HHFKA) is in force as of July 1, 2012.  All school meals will reflect the latest national "Dietary Guidelines for Americans," which focus on the provision of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, fewer calories and saturated fat, and no added trans fat in school meals. Minimum portion sizes for key food groups will be offered with all meals. Click here to see what this looks like for Middle School Students and here for High School Students.  The USDA’s comparison of the former requirements to the new regulatory requirements is available by clicking here. The HHFKA is a Federal law and must be complied with.
