Dear PQ Families:

Parent/Teacher Conferences: PQ Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on Thursday, March 26th from 1:00 to 8:00 pm. There is NO SCHOOL for students on this day. Report Cards will be sent home on Wednesday.

State Testing: We will be administering the NYS ELA and Math Assessments for Grades 3-5 on April 14-16 and 22-24. Please avoid scheduling appointments during the testing period. It is important that students arrive to school on time so that we can promptly begin testing each morning. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

RYLA Conference:  10th grade students have been invited to apply to partake in this year's Rotary Youth Leadership Conference (RYLA).  It is held at Mount St. Mary College in Newburgh, New York, Sunday, June 28th - Thursday, July 2nd.  This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to participate in a leadership building workshop and is also a great way to meet new students from other schools.  The cost of the conference is paid by the Brewster Rotary. Please review the application found on the Guidance webpage and if interested, submit the completed application no later than March 20th.

Travel to France 2016! An informational meeting regarding this unique language immersion opportunity will be held the night of Tuesday, April 7th at 7pm in the MSHS Library. Contact Jessie Wasserman for more information.

News from the Nurse --   March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month -- Colon cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in the U.S., but it doesn't have to be! It is one of the most preventable forms of cancer. Nine out of 10 colon cancers could be prevented or successfully treated with regular colon cancer screenings.
You can save lives by helping spread awareness about this disease and the importance of screening during March!

PTO Meeting: The next PTO meeting has been rescheduled for Tuesday March 24th at 9:00 am. All are welcome to attend. Dr. Freeston will be sharing the proposed 15-16 budget.

Coffee with the Principal: March's Coffee with the Principal is cancelled due to the rescheduling of the PTO meeting. The next next meeting will be on April 21st at 9:00 am.

Second Grade Concert: Our Second Grade Concert will be held on Thursday, March 19th at 7:00 pm. All are welcome to attend.

Teachers, students and PARP welcome author Kate Klise- March 18th to PQ this week. She will be working with our third graders this week. Be sure to ask our third graders about her visit!

High School Students ONLY - To help accommodate the State testing needs of our Middle School students, we will be having a two hour delay schedule on the following days in April for Grades 9-12.
 
Tuesday, April 14, Wednesday, April 15 and Thursday, April 16
                                 AND
Wednesday, April 22, Thursday, April 23 and Friday, April 24
 
High School bus transportation will follow a 2 hour delay.  Middle School students will NOT have a delay and will begin at the regular time for testing.  Bus transportation will be normal for Middle School students.
 
Periods 1-9 will meet according to a 2 hour delay schedule on these days for all grade levels.

The Golden Stage Society at North Salem Middle/High School is excited to present Damn Yankees on March 20, 21, 22.  Winner of eleven Tony® Awards including Best Musical and Best Choreography, Damn Yankees is sure to be a grand slam hit.  This classic musical will have fans on the edge of their seats as they enjoy musical theatre hits, including  "Whatever Lola Wants," "Heart" and "Six Months Out of Every Year."

PTO Gala Social and Fundraiser: Thank you to the PTO for a wonderful evening! What a wonderful event that supports the many activities for students at PQ!

The PTO contributes much to PQ including playground equipment like additional swings and the gaga pits, our extensive author visits that support our ELA instruction, cultural assemblies that expose our students to cultures around the world, and much more. Donations are welcome for the silent auction, babysitting is available from the Girl Scouts so you can join in the fun.

With all of the snow days that we have been having, we wanted to remind you that if there is no school, the number day will carry to the next day that we have school.  For example if today was a snow day and it is Day 2, but tomorrow we have school, that would make the day that we come back Day 2.
