High school senior Matthew Needle is a seasoned table tennis professional who has practiced the sport since sixth grade.

Several years later, he’s looking forward to sharing his talent with the North Salem Schools community by making the sport the focus of his senior O.P.T.I.O.N.S. project.

To prepare for the culmination of the project, Needle interned with middle school physical education teacher Mary Sireci. He has used his world ranking in the sport and experience – which earned him a slot as a quarterfinalist in the Olympic trials – to share his passion for table tennis.

Needle spearheaded a table tennis exposition held at Tiger Stadium (the high school gymnasium) and is offering his expertise to interested students in physical education classes at the school.
