Dear NS Community,

This morning at approximately 9:00 a.m. several staff members noticed the odor of gas on the north side of the building closest to the baseball field. We immediately investigated and coordinated with PQ as they reported an outside gas odor as well.

In an abundance of caution, we alerted and dispatched the Croton Falls Fire Department who responded, along with NYSEG, and proceeded to take gas readings throughout both buildings. All readings, in both buildings, were negative. They also did an outside campus check and again all gas readings were negative.

We have contacted Supervisor Lucas, and appreciate his assistance in coordinating communication with the company who is responsible for notification of the gas compressor work for future release times and work schedule. The information we currently have is that these releases may occur throughout today and up to including Friday.

Based on this information and for the safety of the students both schools will have indoor recess and move all outside, afterschool activities, to the inside. This will be on a day-to-day basis until we have confirmed the work on the pipeline has been completed. This includes any home athletic contests and we are in the process of rescheduling home events that may be impacted at this time.

Thank you for your patience,
