Students in an algebra enrichment unit at Pequenakonck Elementary School designed stores to sell items in a classroom mall. Together they brainstormed a store theme, store name and items to be sold and used critical thinking to work out the details.

Advertised sale items demonstrated understanding of single variable and simultaneous equations. Students utilized multiple problem-solving skills to shop at classmates’ stores and determine the value of each variable.
