Student Artwork Raises Awareness

North Salem Middle/High School students tackled a difficult subject matter in the 12th annual Art Against Abuse Exhibit at The Hammond Museum on March 3.

The initiative began after the brutal murder of high school senior Elizabeth Butler at the hands of her abusive boyfriend.

“The gallery of artwork is done by our students to show their understanding of the dangers of an abusive, controlling relationship,” said Assistant Principal Dr. George Bovino. “I personally made a promise to Patti Butler that as long as I am at North Salem, no student will graduate without the understanding of the dangers of an abusive relationship.”
