North Salem High School’s talented students are preparing to usher in the winter season with a spirited concert.

The school’s concert band and jazz band, directed by Steve Austin, and singing Madrigals, directed by Douglas Coates, will present the school’s winter concert on Dec. 20.

The jazz band will open the show, performing numbers including Matt Harris’ “Prayer Meetin’” and the classic “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” The Madrigals will perform a number of pieces, including “Shepherds, Come Quick” and “The Road Not Taken.” The concert band’s performances will include “Scenes from Terezin” and “The Liberty Bell March.”

As has become tradition, the concert will close with a spirited community sing-along of the “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel’s “Messiah.”

The North Salem High School Winter Concert will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the school auditorium.
