Genius Hour, an enrichment opportunity for students in grades three through five, encourages Pequenakonck Elementary School students to explore their passions and creativity.

During a recent Genius Hour, PQ students learned to program their own Dash and Dot robots using a coding application on iPads.

The coding process challenged students to collaborate and use critical and creative thinking skills to navigate their robots through a maze. Other tasks included creating unique mazes, debugging code and coding their robots to pick up items like cotton balls.

“Students showed that they are persistent, tenacious and learn from what does and does not work to find a better way,” said library media specialist Natalie Koehler.
