Welcome to Mission Monday, a series of posts highlighting the ways North Salem students embrace the district mission of engaging in continual improvement, including questioning, defining and solving problems through critical and creative thinking. The Middle School Robotics Club is using VEX robots to learn how to create code so that the robots perform specific actions. This work requires critical thinking, collaboration, communication and habits of mind such as tenacity, learning from failure and persistence.

The High School Robotics Club is called Tech Wise Guys and they use creative thinking to consider options and then critical thinking to carry out the selected plan. The coding they create is much more complex. Again, collaboration and communication are essential. Habits of mind such as having fun, learning from what does not work and persistence are essential. The high school students are mentors to the middle school students.

See the below video to see the middle school Robotics Club in action.
