The North Salem High School Student Council has been busy in the weeks leading up to the holiday break.

Following a successful homecoming, the student council hosted a blood drive on Nov. 17, with many students and community members donating blood to the American Red Cross. The annual Thanksgiving food drive followed and brought in the most donations to date.

With December in full swing, the student council is hosting a new event, a holiday baking contest that will be held in conjunction with a gently used clothing drive to benefit local families in need. The contest will take place at the end of the school day on Dec. 23.

All bakers who wish to participate must donate a clothing item. The confectionary creations will be judged in the categories of best taste, best decoration and best overall entry.
