The New York State Education Department has announced that North Salem Middle/High School is one of the state’s 2015 Reward Schools.

Recognized for its commitment to academic excellence, the school was awarded this designation based on its students’ high academic performance.

“I am of course proud to have our teachers and students recognized by the New York State Education Department for continued high achievement,” said Principal Dr. Patricia P. Cyganovich.

Across the state, a total of 365 schools were recognized on the Reward Schools list based on high performances on relevant standardized mathematics and English assessments, as well as a high graduation rate.

“North Salem’s mission for its children focuses on solving problems through creative and critical thinking,” said Dr. Cyganovich. “The academic foundation of that work, which is provided by outstanding teachers and supported by a wonderful community, allows for exceptional performance on the part of students. It is that strong partnership that results in this recognition.”
